LUCHADOR
It all started when…
I grew up on a tremendous diet of professional wrestling, comic books, and action figures. As a kid I'd watch any wrestling that I could find on TV and read every single comic that I could get my hands on all while throwing around action figures and making them crash into each other. I loved everything about them. The good and evil characters, the unique way each one of them fought, the feuds, and the epic battles. While I loved pro wrestling in general, I specifically remember being mesmerized by the Lucha Libre matches I would find on the Spanish TV channels. Fast paced and dynamic, these masked men were always flying around the arena, and trying to tear each others masks off. As I grew older, I began to appreciate the world of pro wrestling and comic books in new ways beyond what I loved as a kid. As my collection and knowledge grew, I dreamed of making my own comics and telling my own tales about the characters that excited me as a youth. It has always seemed to me that the world of Professional Wrestling exists in the same world that kung fu films and superheroes do. That of heroes and villains with unique fighting styles, extraordinary strength and durability, finishing moves, and the drama of their feuds. It is based on that understanding that I came up with Luchador. Luchador is my graphic novel love letter to Crime Fiction, Lucha Libre, Pro Wrestling, and comic books, and I can't wait to share it with you.
